Already given a jumbo size Committee of the State Congress, Nirmal Khatri still seems to be burning mid-night oil on how to appease all the leaders. Recently, he said to have silently included about a hundred more of the leaders in his State Committee and now he was working on revamping the Media section after bringing in some new faces but again the move was said to be more of a please all exercise.
Sources said that state Congress president, Nirmal Khatri, who successfully handled all the `power centers’ (read former union ministers and other stalwarts of the Party) by pushing them and their close aides aside from the mainstream, is facing serious problem from his own catorie. Despite of making a jumbo size committee of the Congress, Khatri still failed to pacify the leaders as everyone who oppose former state president, Dr Rita Bahuguna Joshi, wanted reward by getting key post in the UPCC.
Sources further said that to check immediate explosion within the Party after announcement of the Committee, Khatri interacted one by one with all the agitated leaders and pacified them by giving them an assurance that they will be adjusted very soon with some respectable assignments. Interestingly, as an immediate measure, he also made some leaders as state or zonal spokesman of the Party while some more were adjusted in different cells of the Party. However, now when the resentment again started brewing within the Party, Khatri reportedly once again tried to play his card well by secretly appointing around 80 more leaders in the already existing UPCC in which he gave key posts to his `aides’ even if they earlier remained loyalists of other senior Congress leaders. Though these leaders claimed that the newly inducted members were duly approved but it could still not be confirmed whether Rahul or Sonia had also given their nod, and if they had done so than why Khatri had so far kept the entire exercise a closely guarded secret and not made the new appointment official so far.
Sources also claimed that at least three of the spokesman were adjusted on senior post in the UPCC so Khatri had now planned to revamp his media cell later this month. Sourced confirmed that three to four present spokesman will be dropped from the committee but instead of giving more teeth to the Media cell, Khatri is reportedly once again concentrating that how to appease some more angry leaders by making them as new spokesman.
It may be mentioned that Khatri had surpassed even the last UPCC figure when he gave a jumbo size Committee having 333 office bearers besides him (State president) and 69 permanent invitee members. This figure not included the named of leaders who were included in the UPCC media committee. Interestingly, it took more than six months for Khatri to decide the names of the Committee members, just to ensure that everyone would be happy.
The UPCC already had Nirmal Khatri as Party President, one treasurer, besides there are 34 leaders who have been inducted as vice-president, 64 leaders as general secretaries, 43 as organising secretaries, 107 as secretaries, 84 as executive members and 69 permanent invitees which mostly included former union minister, MPs, MlAs, ex-state presidents etc.
