Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan stirred up yet another row on Monday by urging the President to impose emergency and hold fresh Parliamentary elections. The SP leader reasoned that the beef controversy has maligned the country globally and the President should take effective decision to stem further damage.
“Enough is enough. We can not wait for the catastrophe. Will emergency be imposed after more innocents are killed,’’ said Azam Khan in a statement on Monday. “With the RSS intensifying the anti-beef campaign, the nation is heading towards anarchy. Since the BJP has the reins of power in Delhi, the RSS has the opportunity to implement their agenda of converting India into a Hindu nation. The Constitution is there but exists only on paper. It’s high time for the President to intervene and for maintaining the constitutional order he should impose emergency in the country,’’ opined the Minority Affairs minister in the communique.
Claiming that he was not alone in feeling so, Khan pointed out, “BJP patriarch and one-time mentor of the PM, lK Advani too had recently said that the Modi government has created emergency like situation in the country.’’
Rejecting the gag order imposed by BJP chief Amit Shah on ‘loose canons’ like Haryana CM Jagdeesh Khattar, Mahesh Sharma, Sakshi Maharaj and Sangeet Som, Khan said, “They were not disciplined but asked to work for implementing the RSS agenda rather than making statements and creating problems.’’
