Upping the ante against firebrand BJP leader Sangeet Som, senior SP leader Azam Khan asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi the reason for giving a ‘Z-plus’ security cover to the minister whoi has been making provocative speeches to disturb social harmony.
Speaking to the media in Rampur on Saturday, Khan said that Som indulged in the meat trade and cases of loot and dacoity were also registered against him.
The senior UP minister further maintained that Som had forcibly acquired land of the Forest department running into several crore rupees. The SP leader said that Modi should explain as to why such an element has been given RsZ plus’ security despite knowing his antecedents.
Khan also questioned that if Muslims feel threated by the Hindus and vice-versa, then in which direction was the country heading. Mentioning BJP’s statement that Modi does not want to make the beef issue a political agenda in Bihar as cow is sacred to Hindus, Khan pointed out that several things were also banbed in Islam but trade of such things were continuing in India. Khan said that he was a supporter of the ban on cow slaughter across the country.
