State BJP president Keshav Prasad Maurya has asked Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav to remove Akhilesh Yadav as Chief Minister for his failure to check land grabbing in Uttar Pradesh.
“Mulayam Singh ji has admitted that some senior ministers and party leaders were grabbing land and has warned them. Incidentally, the Chief Minister also heads the Department of Home and is hence responsible for checking land grabbing incidents. If cases of land grabbing are still on, this reflects the failure of Chief Minister and he should be removed by the party chief and replaced by a competent person,” Maurya said on Tuesday.
While addressing party workers at SP headquarters, Yadav had admitted that there were reports of incidents of land grabbing by SP leaders. “It seems the Chief Minister has failed to check land grabbing. We will not win elections if this trend continues,” Yadav had said in his address.
Maurya said it is not the first time that Mulayam Singh Yadav has spoken against his ministers and senior leaders. “This is unfortunate that despite repeated warnings from Yadav Senior, incidents of land grabbing have gone up,” said he.
The BJP has made land grabbing a political issue. It has floated an email id asking people to complain about land grabbing. The party has so far received over 25,000 cases from different parts of the state. “Only the BJP is fighting for the rights of people. It will highlight the plight of people,” he said.
