Kateheria says UP govt demand for tankers was for Saifai

Amid the water train row, Union minister of state for HRD, Dr Ramashanker Kateheria said that Akhilesh Yadav government’s demand for 10,000 water tankers was for Saifai and not Bundelkhand.

"I am sure that like any other project, these tankers would also be sent to Saifai - the native village of the CM in Etawah and the Bundelkhand people will continue to reel under the crisis," he told reporters in Etawah on Friday.

Attacking the SP government for its failure in spending Central funds, the Union minister alleged that the UP government has failed to distribute relief to the affected farmers facing drought and other crisis.

"It is unfortunate that the state government was sitting tight on the funds meant for distribution among the dorught-hit farmers," he said.

Dr Kateheria, however, thanked CM Akhilesh Yadav for withdrawing five criminal cases against him. “This speaks about the sagacity of the UP government because during Mayawati's regime 18 fake cases were lodged against me and these are yet to be withdrawn. No government should use criminal laws to intimidate political rivals. Every government," he opined.
