CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat met Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav here on Tuesday and apprised him of the lapses and irregularities at the relief camps in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli districts.
Karat who was accompanied by CPI(M) Central committee member Subhashani Ali, also handed over a list of suggestions to improve the condition of the relief camps to the CM.
''I have raised several issues before the CM, including expediting of the criminal cases lodged against the accused responsible for the communal riots,'' he told mediapersons outside 5, Kalidas Marg, official residence of the CM.
The CPI (M) General Secretary also discussed political situation of the country and had a chat over formation of an anti-communal platform in wake of the Muzaffarnagar riots.
Karat’s meeting with CM comes a day after Akhilesh Yadav invited suggestions from the political parties to overcome the lapses in the five relief camps in
Muzaffarnagar and Shamli districts.
When he was asked whether parties were doing politics over the Muzaffarnagar riots following Rahul Gandhi’s inspection of camps he refused to reply and said everyone knows the matter.
Presently there are around 4800 people staying in 5 relief camps in Shamli and Muzaffarnagar districts after the September riots in Muzaffarnagar in which 65 people were killed, 85 injured and 51,000 people rendered homeless.
