Jungle raj prevailing in UP, says Congress

Published on:

Congress condemned the incident in Mathura and said that it pointed towards prevalent  `jungle raj’ in the State.

``The manner  in which a SP corporator was forced to beat himself with his own shoes just in terror of senior leaders of his Party showed that  how the people of the state were forced to live in jungle raj", claimed spokesman of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) Amarnath Agarwal here on Thursday afternoon.  He claimed that what is more serious is that the happening in Mathura also pointed insensitiveness of the Samajwadi Party government towards members of fairer sex  as well as it also raised question that if ruling party leaders could fell victim of  their own bosses than the fate of common man is any ones  guess.

``The incident in Mathura draws serious concern as the matter was not just related to modesty of a woman but the person who was humiliated is ruling Party corporator but he had to pay the price for raising voice against excesses of his senior leaders", Amarnath said adding that it is  alarming that the local police also joined handed with senior SP leader to harass the person who demanded justice

for the victim. ``If the members of law enforcing agencies who were deem to provide security to common man will join hands in such act than the security of people rests on mercy of God", Congress spokesman said adding that such act of cops not just deserved suspension but they should be removed from the job and sent to jail after registering a case against them as their act  amounts to criminal conduct.

Amarnath further said that on one hand there in no law and order prevalent  in the State and on other the state government is patronising criminals. ``The list of criminals in SP is endless and recently Mulayam Singh Yadav further inducted Atiq Ahmed and fielded him from Sultanpur for next Parliamentary seat which clearly send strong message in the society as well as amongst members of law enforcing agencies that when gangsters got favoured of SP supremo than they should think of their safety on their own", claimed spokesman accusing Mulayam Singh Yadav for just shedding crocodile tears in the name of criticism on his son’s government for deteriorating law and order situation.

Meanwhile clarifying state government’s stand on Mathura incident, Samajwadi Party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav said that the cops who remained mute spectators of harassment by SP leaders were already suspended and those involved in the act will be arrested. ``We already get the cops suspended and ordered stern legal proceedings against all the accused", he claimed. Ram Gopal denied that SP government is shielding anyone involved in the criminal act.
