Dismissing the demand for a CBI probe by BJP leaders into the Mathura violence, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that judicial probe will reveal the perpetrators behind the incident.
“A probe headed by Justice (Retd) Imtiaz Murtaza will certainly nail the culprits behind the violence. The government is committed to bringing the culprits to the book and the probe will help us to achieve that,” Yadav told reporters in Mathura where he had gone to meet the family members of martyred SP (City) who was among 29 killed when illegal encroachers in Jwahar Bagh opened fire at the police who went there to vacate the area following High Court directives.
When asked whether the officer's family had also demanded a CBI probe when he went to meet them, the CM said, “None of them asked for it. We are confident that the judicial probe will look into all aspects and come up with findings that will help the police to nab culprits. The violence in Jawahar Bagh was unfortunate and the SP government will not spare the guilty.”
The CM also criticised the Opposition for raking up the Jawahar Bagh violence.
"Uanble to digest the development work being done by the SP government, the Oppostion parties raised the Mathura incident to defame our regime,” he said and added that the government is committed to helping the kin of the slain police officers..
The family of slain SP (City) Mukul Dwivide has been given Rs 50 lakh and his widow has been made the OSD in UP Police. The family will also get full salary of the slain official till his retirement.
Yadav also spoke about Kairana incident, saying that the BJP was unnecessarily raising the exodus of Hindus from that area.
"This is a well planned strategy of the BJP to malign the SP government. I never thought that BJP can be so dishonest,” he said.
The CM said that a majority of the people left that area 10-15 years back in search of jobs. The BJP has included the names of these people to present a mirage that Hindus were being persecuted and hence forced to leave,” Yadav said.
The CM said that with elections round the corner, the BJP was trying to divide the society on communal lines. “The BJP wants to replicate Muzaffarnagar in Kairana and all for segregation of votes,” he said.
