Despite Supreme Court's directives on check on sale of acids recently, a jilted lover threw acid upon a girl after she denied to marry him in Etmadula area of the Taj City on Thursday morning.
According to reports, 20-year-old Tarana (20), whose marriage is slated for September 26, was sleeping on the roof-top, when Istihaq (22)
splashed acid upon her. The girl sustained critical burns in the incident. One sided-love affair has emerged as the reason behind the
crime. Police have registered a case and launched man-hunt for the
absconding accused.The Supreme Court had recently expressed its concern on the growing cases of acid attacks and directed the state
governments to regulate retail sale of acid.
Meanwhile three persons were killed, while 18 others were injured, six of them critically, when a tractor-trolley carrying them overturned in Khaga area of Fatehpur on late Wednesday night. According to reports, the tractor-trolley carrying 24 people was going to Kaushambhi district in a
mundan ceremony. A speeding truck rammed into the tractor-trolley from behind and the vehicle turned turtle. Three occupants died on the spot in the mishap, while 18 others have been admitted to hospital. Of them, six were stated serious.
