The UP government appointed two-term SP MP from Rampur Jaya Prada as the Senior Vice-chairperson of UP Film Development Council. Jaya Prada and her political mentor Amar Singh were expelled from the Samajwadi Party in 2010. Singh was readmitted in the SP recently and also nominated to the Rajya Sabha but Jaya Prada had to wait for a suitable adjustment.
Amar Singh was sore with Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav as he had appointed Gopal Das Neeraj as Chairman of UP Film Developement Council and Jaya Prada was appointed as vice chairperson. To placate, the CM elevated Jaya's status to senior Vice chairperson.
