Not sparing Congress party just ahead of lok Sabha Elections in the state, Shia Cleric and Secretary General of Majlis-e-Ulema-e-Hind, Maulana Kalbe Jawwad’s Anti-Congress ‘Waqf Bachao Rath Yatra’ was carried out on Monday, however it was stopped on lucknow-Rae Bareli border by the local administration.

Notably, irked over issue of Karbala Shah-e-Mardan situated in Delhi, Cleric announced to carry out rath yatra from lucknow towards Rae Bareli to reach Delhi on March 31.

Since, Sunday night the election commission and local administration were trying to convince the cleric that he should cancel his yatra. Defying all the orders at around 11 am, a convoy of few vehicles left for Rae Bareli.

When the Yatra reached near lucknow- Rae Bareli border, a heavy bandobast was already present there to stop the agitators from moving further. Despite several requests by the police and administration official cleric insisted to continue.

Getting the news, SSP lucknow Praveen Kumar and Additional District Magistrate (ADM-West), Hari Pratap Shahi rushed to the spot and tired to convince the cleric to cancel going further.

But the agitating Muslims were not ready to move back and requested to court arrest them. The agitators by themselves got seated in Police vehicles demanding to court arrest them. After this two hours long high tension drama, the cleric announced to postpone the yatra.

"We were not taking out any political yatra or were not going in support of any political party, then why does Election Commission ordered to stop us," questioned Maulana Kalbe Jawwad.

Alleging Congress leaders behind the Karbala Shah-e-Mardan issue, Cleric said top congress leaders are protecting just a nursery owner due to which the issues of this waqf property is not solved so far.

"The yatra is just postponed for a couple of days, next agitation for saving the Waqf properties will be launched in Delhi on March 31 which the proposed date for yatra to reach there," he added.

Maulana said mass agitations are spreading in different parts of the country against Senior Congress leader who is responsible for usurping waqf land all over the country including Karbala Jorbagh and graveyard at Mehroli both situated in Delhi.
