Jawwad slams Bukhari for supporting Cong

Shia Cleric and General Secretary Majlis-e-Ulama-Hind, Maulana Kalbe Jawwad slammed Shahi Imam Delhi Jama Masjid, Syed Ahmed Bukhari for his support to Congress in lok Sabha Elections.
"If Bukhari wants to extend support to any political party then it’s his personal view and he has no right to promise support on behalf of Muslims," said Jawwad here on Saturday.
Earlier on March 10, two members of Bukhari’s assessment committee had meeting with Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Naseemuddin Siddiqui and discussed Muslim issues. Even though meeting was said to be successful but Bukhari announced to support congress. "After splitting from a political party, Bukhari was getting close to BSP leaders but he took U-turn and join the camps of Congress party," he said.
Criticizing congress party, Cleric said if one sees the past records of the party, it will come out that Congress never worked for the upliftment of Muslims instead it made Muslims weak and backward during their regime. Advising Muslim community that it should not get influenced with such political alliances, he said the Muslim should go for ‘tactical voting’ in favor of the candidate whom they think better. The candidates should not be tainted, corrupt and shows willingness to work for community’s welfare and upliftment.
Member All India Muslim Personal law Board, Maulana Kalbe Rushaid Rizvi had been declared as candidate by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) from Amroha Seat. When asked about extending support to him, Jawwad said: "I never go out to campaign for any candidates but as Kalbe Rushaid has been contesting elections I will pray for his victory and appeal Muslims to vote for him."
However, Cleric denied commenting on the candidature of Jaaved Jaaferi on lucknow seat. "I don’t know much about him so it will not be better to make any comment on him," he said.
