If anomalies were found at wheat procurement centres strict action will be taken against concerned district magistrate, warned chief secretary Javed Usmani while reviewing wheat purchase in state through video conferenecing at Yojna Bhavan on Sunday.
He asked, district magistrates to ensure any senior official, nominated by them, inspected wheat procurement centres once in a week and report was sent to state food commissioner every Friday. The report of district magistrates will be reviewed every Sunday by himself and he will ensure solving problems immediately.
The chief secretary said, the district magistrates must ensure availability of Rs 15 lakh at any time at a procurement centre for payment of wheat price to farmers. Simultaneously he instructed officials to organise squads to see that wheat was not being sold in local markets at below minimum support price.
Expressing dissatisfaction over weekly reports not being received at sate headquarters from 14 districts, the chief secretary said, respective district magistrates should be prepared for punitive action if laxity was found at these places during inspection.
