Even though the Hazratganj police did not name the convenor of UP Nav Nirman Sena Amit Jani in the FIR, the latter remains a controversial figure and has given pain to the police on a number of times in the past.
Jani shot to fame in 2012 when a statue of BSP chief Mayawati was found broken at Ambedkar Park in Gomti Nagar and his name surfaced in the mischief. The incident took place soon after the Samajwadi Party came to power. The police had slapped NSA on Jani then. Jani, who belongs to Meerut, served jail terms on a number of times for showing black flag to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, vandalising the office of Shiv Sena and hindering cops in executing duty in the past. In the recent past, he was arrested from Bisahda village in October for his controversial statement and holding a panchayat there without permission from the district administration. Last year, he had announced a prize to one who would chop the tongue of a Samajwadi Party leader. He was in the media limelight after he announced giving a ticket for Assembly election in Rajasthan to Shambhu who had viralled a controversial video showing the murder of a man.
In the poster which took the centrestage on Wednesday, the write-up praised CM Yogi. It read that the public had got fed up with ‘jumlebazi’ of Modi. It further read that had Yogi was a star campaigner in the Assembly elections held recently and had Yogi not canvassed the BJP could have not got even a single seat. It was also written in the hoarding that if the Central government did not bring any law by January, a massive Dharma Sansad, consisting of Hindus, would be held at Ramabai Ambedkar Park and in the gathering a demand to oust Modi and elect Yogi as PM would be raised.
