Jal Kalash Yatra weaves its way to temple complex

In the fervour leading to the consecration of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, the city witnessed a stirring spiritual event on the second day of the consecration ritual. A Jal Kalash Yatra, led by women, was taken out as a vibrant procession through the streets.

The kalash yatra commenced in the morning from the banks of the sacred Sarayu river. Women carrying urns filled with the consecrated water from the river joyfully danced to the rhythmic beats of melodious songs dedicated to Lord Ram. The atmosphere resonated with their expressions of profound devotion to the deity.

Usha Mishra, wife of yajman Dr Anil Mishra, led the procession, joined by Ramalakshmi Tripathi, the wife of Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi, and other enthusiastic participants. The event marked a unique blend of religious fervour and cultural celebration.

As part of the elaborate puja rituals, 21 women carried the consecrated water from Sarayu to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi complex. Here, the newly-constructed complex and altars dedicated to Navgraha and the Yajna Mandap were purified using the sacred water from the kalash.

The official commencement of the Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav followed with the installation of the kalash.

The second day of the ceremony saw Vedic scholars gathering on the banks of the river Sarayu, invoking blessings through sacred chants. Acharya Sunil Dixit, instrumental in conducting various forms of worship on the banks of the Sarayu, announced that the statue of Ram Lalla, crafted by Arun Yogi, would enter the sanctum sanctorum on January 18. Before the installation, the idol will embark on a ceremonial tour within the temple complex.

As Ayodhya prepares for the consecration ceremony, the resonating chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ echo through every corner, creating an atmosphere charged with reverence and devotion. The city’s transformation mirrors a harmonious blend of heritage and modernity, showcased in ornate decorations and cultural richness.
