Having missed the bus twice to head the top boss post in the police department, Jagmohan Yadav, an IPS officer of 1983 batch, was finally appointed as new director general of police, replacing Arvind Kumar Jain, who retired on Tuesday evening. Jain, who was due to retire on March 31 last, was already on three months extension.
Yadav, who was presently posted as DG of Crime Branch Crime Investigation Department, reportedly raised controversy when just few days before Jain took the top cop’s post, he reportedly sent a report to the state government seeking prosecution of Jain in connection with arson and loot in the house of than state president of Dr Rita Bahuguna Joshi. Sources said that the move was made by Yadav in order to keep Jain away from DGP’s race but even than the state government pushed CB CID’s proposal under the carpet and made AK Jain as DGP.
However, now when just six months were left for his retirement, the ambition of Jagmohan Yadav has been finally fulfilled by the state government and he was made DGP of the state. His appointment to the top post has been announced by principal secretary, Home, Dewasheesh Panda, here on Tuesday evening. Yadav would retire on December 31 this year.
