Promotee officers and employees of the Income Tax Department threatened to intensify their on-going two months long agitation if the senior authorities would ignore their demands or improving infrastructure and increasing man power and get their early redressal.

JP Singh, general secretary of the Income Tax Employees Federation (ITEF) of UP East Circle, while giving the above information here on Thursday evening said that all the promotee officers as well as employees of the UP East Circle met here to discuss the further action towards negative approach of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) in respect to their legitimate demands. He said that during last fiscal year, the direct tax collection exceeded the significant figure of over Rs 10 lakh crore just due to cooperation of the employees of the Department.

Singh said that to further raise this, the ITEF (east circle) for the last over a year, demanding CBDT to look into their demands of improving the basic infrastructure of the office as well as to meet out the shortage of man power. He claimed  that the government this year gave the target of Rs 11 lakh crore collection but this can be only  met if their above demands will be immediately resolved.

Singh said that as the CBDT refused to look into the above demands, so all the employees of the ITEF (East Circle) met here on Thursday and draw a road map of intensifying the agitation.  He said that they again dispatched their memorandum to the CBDT and other senior officials and alerted them to resolve the issue otherwise the employees, who were agitated for the last two months would not cooperate in achieving the above target and will also intensify their agitation.
