Irregularities in house allotmentsc

Published on:

large scale bungling has been made in allotment of the houses under the Multi-Sectorial Scheme and Indira Awas Yojna, in Saharanpur.  The irregularities came up after a probe was conducted by chief development officer of Saharanpur on directions of the Information Commissioner, Hafiz Usman. Interestingly, now the local authorities not just cancelled the allotment orders, and were making recovery of financial losses, but the officer concerned has been also placed under suspension and a Departmental Enquiry has been ordered against him.

Reports said that some residents of Saharanpur brought the matter into the notice of the Information Commissioner, Hafiz Usman, that unauthorised persons, who were not entitled to get the houses under Multi-Sectorial Scheme and Indira Awas Yojna plan of the government, have been allotted house in large numbers in Saharanpur. The complainant also gave some glaring examples that how after paying money to the officers concerned, some local residents got the houses which are meant for poor class.

Usman claimed that after learning of the above facts, he ordered district magistrate of Saharanpur to get the matter probed and submit the facts along with the action taken against the accused in the said matter. He said that local DM in Saharanpur, get the matter probed by CDO of the district and found the allegations true. He said that the probe showed that under the Multi-Sectorial Scheme of the Government, 75 houses were allotted in Saharanpur district out of which 31 of the beneficiaries were not eligible for it. Similarly under the Indira Awas Yojna, 35 houses were allotted but again 6 of the occupants got allotment when they too failed to meet the eligibility criteria.

Usman further disclosed that DM of Saharanpur had also appraised him that following the above enquiry, he had not just got the illegal allotment cancelled but also made recovery of the losses incurred to the government due to above irregularities. DM also claimed that Rural Development Officer of Muzaffarnagar, Vinod Dobhal, has been already placed under suspension in the above matter and he was also directed to deposit Rs 10.05 lakh as recovery of the losses (In 100 equal installment). Besides, recovery has been also made from other beneficiaries.
