Suicide by a rape victim due to alleged inaction by the cops in Bulandshahr led to the suspension of an inspector on Tuesday.
The girl was allegedly gang-raped and the inspector of Anupshahr police station, who was incharge of the investigation, was suspended for taking no serious action in the matter, police said on Tuesday.
Issuing the suspension order against Inspector Vijay Rathi, who was investigating the case, on Tuesday, the senior superintendent of police ordered an inquiry into his role along with that of the circle officer, who was the immediate supervisory officer.
SSP Santosh Kumar Singh said that a one-and-half page suicide note was also recovered from the spot of the suicide.
He said that Superintendent of Police (Crime) Shivram Yadav was made the investigating officer to probe into the role of the incharge inspector and the CO. The investigating officer has been directed to submit the report in two days.
On the other hand, a report relating to abetment to suicide was registered on the complaint of the deceased’s family in connection with the alleged rape and suicide case in which the accused and their family members have also been named.
Meanwhile, a couple committed suicide in Lalitpur.
According to reports, Lavkush (22) and his wife Seema Kushwaha (20) and their 2-year-old daughter were staying in a mud house inside their field at Panchayat Khandi in Karila in Lalitpur.
On Tuesday morning, his family members went to the field but found the couple not working. They went towards their house and heard the cries of their daughter. As they went inside, they were shocked to see bodies of the couple hanging from the wooden log of their house. Lavkush’s father Babu Lal Kushwaha immediately called the police. He failed to give and reason for the suicide.
However some local villagers revealed that family dispute forced the couple to end their lives.
A case was registered and the bodies were sent for post-mortem.
