A day after successfully organizing the ‘Investors’ Summit’, the Industrial department is back to work and has started implementation work with directives being issued to segregate proposals sector and project wise.

Industrial Development Commissioner Dr Anup Chandra Pandey said that phase one of the mission was over. “Now we have started phase two which is more tedious as it needs implementation of the proposals,” Pandey told ‘The Pioneer’ in lucknow on Friday.

Pandey said that officials have been asked to segregate projects sector wise and district wise. “An implementation framework is also been put in place so that one can ensure transparent implementation of proposals,” the IDC said.

Implementation of MoUs would be a great challenge for the state government as opposition parties have already started questioning the feasibility of the high profile Summit as they believe that the investors would not fulfill the promises made as UP was not a conducive place for investments.

With Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath coming on record saying that he would personally monitor implementation of MoUs in letter and in spirit, the job for trh Industrial department is cut out.

In the two-day ‘Investors Sumit’, the UP Government signed 1049 MoUs worth Rs 4.28 lakh crore. The investments also include setting up of Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor starting from Agra to Chitrakoot which is set to transform the life in rugged Bundelkhand region.

Highly placed sources in the Industry department said that tyhe government was still getting proposals and the figure could well go up but it has not been made public.

The Industrial Development Commissioner did not confirm this but said that the image of Uttar Pradesh has rocketed and after the Summit the state has emerged as the most favoured destinations for investors.

“If there are any other proposal, we will take it up in the second phase,” Pandey said but admitted that investors have shown maximum interest in development of infrastructure.

Meanwhile, delegations of two Japanese companies - Mitsui Chemical Agro and Konoikai Companies met the IDC and expressed interest in development of foodchain.
