Terming the opposition move for impeachment of the Chief Justice of India as a publicity for political gains, Union Minister of State for Statistics and Programme implementation Vijay Goel said that it was aimed at raising issues to create an ambience against constitutional organizations.
The Minister was in the city for reviewing the lucknow Metro project and the NHAI project of the Ring Road on Friday.
Addressing the media he said, “ Impeachment is a serious issue and the political parties are doing this for political gains. They are raising some issue or the other to create this ambience against constitutional organizations” he said.
He was reacting to the news that seven opposition parties including the Congress submitted a petition to Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, who is the chairman of the Rajya Sabha in parliament, for impeachment of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra.
The Minister said that the Congress party had problems with the EVM when they lost out in the elections. “Now they are criticizing the judiciary for the judgement it has made because the Court did not gave judgement as per their wishes” he said.
It may be noted that this move comes one day after the Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra dismissed petitions seeking an independent probe into the death of the CBI judge BH loya
