Immediate intervention for issues related to B Ed candidates : UPCC

Published on:

A delegation of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC), on Thursday evening, handed over a memorandum to Governor Ram Naik, demanding his immediate intervention to resolve the issues related to agitated Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualified B Ed candidates, and also to withdraw all criminal cases registered by the local administration to crush the peaceful agitation of the job aspirants.

"The local administration on direction of the state government had brutally assaulted the TET qualified B Ed candidates and not even spared the women and their children assaulting them with sticks and rods just to crush their peaceful agitation to demand jobs”, alleged UPCC Spokesman, Amarnath Agarwal, who went with the Party’s delegation led by former MP, Pramod Tewari, to hand over memorandum to Governor here on Thursday evening.

Agarwal said that they informed Naik about the highly insensitive and inhuman behaviour of the men in Khakhi and also that how forge criminal cases have been registered against the candidates just to terroise them to end their agitation and left back for the home. He said that they asked Naik that he should interfere not just to give justice to the aspirants who were confined in the Eco Park without food and water for the last 24-hours but also to get all the criminal cases registered in the Wednesday incident withdrawn.

Agarwal further said for the past one year, similar protests by agitated Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualified B Ed candidates and even by the ‘shiksha mitras’ was witnessed on the streets of lucknow just as the government is not giving them their due and just make forged promises. He claimed that around 2,75,000 teaching positions are lying vacant. “There is no dearth of TET qualified B Ed candidates but the government is doing nothing,” he says adding that the State has approximately one crore unemployed, according to estimates of officials at the state’s employment exchange. The BJP government, when it came to power in March last year, had set a target to provide jobs to 70 lakh people in five years, that is 14 lakh jobs a year. However, till date the BJP government just cheated the youths and had not provided any job. He said that not only this, BJP government had imposed a blanket ban on all appointments after it came to power thus the government machinery even not issued 12,460 appointment letters to selected BTC teachers.
