Hundreds of activists demand CM's resignation

To further press their demand for resignation of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, hundreds of activists of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, led by state president Raj Babbar, held a massive demonstration in the state capital on Monday.

Besides demanding lodging of FIR against chief minister Yogi Adityanath and state health ministers, Siddharth Nath Singh in connection with the ‘massacre’ of 70 children at Gorakhpur BRD Medical college hospital, they also demanded their immediate resignations.

Congress national vice-president Rahul Gandhi is also likely to visit Gorakhpur on coming Wednesday to interact with the families and learnt the facts directly from them. Senior Congress leaders will also accompany Rahul, though the local administration gave no permission in this regard.

The congress activists squatted on the road in front of the Vidhan Sabha and police was forced to arrest around 300 leaders and workers including its president when they refused to move away from their peaceful protest.  later the Congress workers were taken to Gosaiganj police station on the outskirts of the city in two buses amid shouting of anti-government slogans against the Yogi government and were released there after a hour.

Interestingly, the Party’s Jan Andolan Committee chairman, Syawam Prakash Goswami, who in last week staged a `Jail Bharo’ andolan to protest the wrong doings of both Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath Government, fell and claimed to have turned unconscious just after finding the administration arresting Babbar and other senior leaders after they refused to call off their agitation. The Party workers took him to the nearby civil hospital where his condition is said to be fine.

Addressing the party cadres at the Gandhi smarak near GPO, Babbar reiterated his demand for lodging of FIR under section 302 of the IPC against the CM and state health ministers as they have intentionally massacred the children. He said that the BJP government has failed and killing of the children showed its insensitivity and has no moral right to continue.  Congress vice-president and chairman of the media committee Satyadeo Tripathi further alleged that the CM lacks administrative skills and his government was promoting anarchy in the state. “The death of children at Gorakhpur proves about the government and doctors nexus in the state and how the BJP which always taught ideology and principles was deeply involved in it,” Tripathi alleged.

Further attacking Prime Minister  Narendra Modi, the Congress leader said PM always talks about high moral and principles in his Maan Ki Baat and other speeches but when it comes to implementation he fails and try to give up a brave face. “The BJP leaders should be ashamed of what they have done by killing the children in cold blood,” he charged. The arrested leaders were taken to Gosainganj police station from where the cops immediately bailed them out.
