Stressing on the commitment of his government to improve infrastructure in health sector Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that his Government had built hospitals and renovated PHCs at village level so that people could get quick medical care at their doorsteps.

“This is important that hospitals and PHCs should have good infrastructure and the Samajwadi Party Government has ensured that. Ours is the only government that has sought additional money in supplementary budget to improve infrastructure in KGMU, lucknow and SN Medical College, Agra,” Yadav said while inaugurating Great BP Campaign that was launched here on Monday.

He said commended KGMU and Cardiology Society of India for initiating a campaign to make people aware about blood pressure. “BP is a silent killer. No one talks about it but the fact is this disease leads to many other lethal ailments,” Yadav said.

“People could be seen talking about heart attacks or cancer. But no one talks about BP but when one shouts at others people generally say he has high BP. The reference of BP comes in a lighter vein as no one takes it seriously,” he said and added that this awareness campaign will enlighten people about this dreaded BP disease.

Chief Minister said that time has come for the people to change their life style. They should leave sedentary life and start physical exercise. “Our Government has constructed two parks lohia and Janeshwar Mishra. People should go there for morning walk,” he said.

He even offered suggestion that a person should either walk 5 kms or do cycling for at least 10 km. “We have built cycle tracks. People should use that too,” he said.

Vice-Chancellor KGMU Dr Ravikant said that high BP leads kidney failure, heart attacks and even brain hemorrhage. “If one control BP he can avoid many deadly diseases,” he said.

Doctors also measured BP of Chief Minister during campaign. The reading was not revealed. Health reports are personal. WE cannot reveal the readings, Dr Rishi Seth, who took CM’s BP said.
