Hitting out at Samajwadi Party Government the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party said that incidents of crime, particularly against women, were on rise thus driving a big hole in Akhilesh Yadav Government’s new slogan of Rising Uttar Pradesh.
“The recent figures released by National Crime Record Bureau show that Uttar Pradesh is second in the country as far as crime against women was concerned. The first position goes to Andhra Pradesh with 10.60 per cent crime against women while Uttar Pradesh records 10.51 per cent crime against women,” BJP state spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said in a statement here on Wednesday.
He said that the recent figures prove that Uttar Pradesh has become Crime Pradesh. “These are the figures when police does not register FIRs. No one knows exact number of crime against women. It must be four to five times higher than what is reported,” Pathak said.BJP spokesman said instead of bringing law and order control the state government blames media for highlighting the crime. What can media do when there is 18.77 per cent increase in crime kidnapping cases while 28.80 per cent of crimes recorded in Uttar Pradesh are dowry related.
“The reason for this is politicization of police force, The cops have lost faith in the government. Their morale is down because they know they cannot arrest criminals as they belong to Samajwadi party. In this situation it is poor people who are facing the brunt,” Pathak said.
