Hired' crowd will not change BSP's fortunes: Shivpal

Describing Bahujan Samaj Party’s Savdhan Rally as a flop show, PWD and Irrigation Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav said the “hired” crowd at Rama Bai Ambedkar Maidan would not change the fortunes of the party, which was destined to get a drubbing in the next lok Sabha election.

“There was no enthusiasm in the crowd. They were least interested in what Mayawati said. Realising that her game plan had failed, the BSP chief harped on Dalits, pleading them to vote for her party,” Yadav told reporters here on Wednesday.

The minister said that what Mayawati spoke was just the opposite of what she did when she was the chief minister of the state.

“Mayawati only installed statues and developed parks with the public money and collected commission on her birthdays. In sharp contrast, (Chief Minister) Akhilesh Yadav has introduced development agenda in the state,” he said.

Hitting out at Mayawati, Yadav said the BSP leader, who did not even go to Muzaffarnagar to see the condition of the people living in tents, was shedding crocodile tears on their name.

“Had she gone there, she would have realised the help this Government had extended for the rehabilitation of the riot-victims,” Yadav said.

Expressing his annoyance at the BSP supremo for terming Uttar Pradesh as “crime pradesh” Yadav said that law and order in the state was much better than in the previous regime. “People feel safe in Akhilesh regime,” he added.
