Hindu Yuva Vahini, will be allowed to take law into their hands: Yogi Adityanath

Claiming himself to be a ‘mahant’ (monk) and not a full-time politician, who joined politics to serve the people, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that restoring law and order was his Government’s priority and no one, not even the Hindu Yuva Vahini, will be allowed to take law into their hands.

“I am not a full time politician. It is by quirk of fate that I joined politics and now I am Chief Minister. I joined politics to serve humanity and will continue to do so. I will not stay in lucknow for long. Once I complete the responsibility given tome by my party, I will settle down in Gorakhpur,” Yogi said while speaking at a function in lucknow on Friday.

Yogi clarified that he had become the CM just to rid the state of dynasty politics and corruption. “The need of the hour is to provide good governance and the BJP Government was striving hard in that direction,” he said and expressed satisfaction at the 100-day rule of BJP Government in UP.

When pointedly asked about law and order, the CM said that he had inherited a rotten system and cleaning the cobweb would take some time. “Of late there has been a spurt in criminal activities but in 99 per cent of cases, the police have solved the crimes and criminals have been arrested,” Yogi said.

To another querry on cow vigilante groups, including Hindu Yuva Vahini, becoming active after he came to power, the CM said,”Whoever tried to take law into his hands will be put behind bars. No one will be spared. It is our commitment to free the state of crime and it will be fulfilled. We are tightening the noose around mafia, criminals and people involved in illegal activities.”

Announcing that his government would be strict against cow smuggling and illegal slaughter houses, the CM said: “The BJP Government will act as per directives of the Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal (NGT) and shut down down all illegal slaughter houses.”

Replying to a question as to when would all roads in the state be pothole free, Yogi said that 75 per cent of the potholed roads have been repaired and the rest would be done after the monsoon ends.

Talking about his regime’s achievements, the CM said that the government purchased 37 lakh tonnes of wheat this season which was just 7 lakh tonnes last year.

Replying to another question on whether the BSP – SP-Congress combine would impact the lok Sabha polls in 2019, Yogi said, “These parties have become irrelevant now. The BJP will win all the 80 seats in 2019 lok Sabha elections.”

When asked about the impact of Goods and Service Tax (GST), the CM said that the new tax regime was in favour of traders and it would not only end Inspector Raj but also speed up development.

“We should thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for implementing the GST. The traders should support it as it would increase their business,” Yogi said.
