Hindu Mahasabha has come out in support of the killers of Atiq Ahmad in Prayagraj, saying the assailants had killed the mafia the same way as Lord Ram had killed the ‘rakshas’.
Hindu Mahasabha state president Ankit Bhatnagar said that the way Lord Shri Ram killed the demons to make the `samaj bhaymukt’, similarly these three youths had killed gangster Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf to cleanse the society from these goondas.
He declared that Hindu Mahasabha would extend help to the killers. But he did not elaborate on the nature of help.

The statement of Hindu Mahasabha state president came after there were reports about police thwarting the attempt of Ittehad-e-Millat Council ( IMC) chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza and his supporters to stage a sit-in at Islamia grounds in Bareilly on Wednesday to protest against the killing of Atiq Ahmad and Ashraf in Prayagraj on April 15.
Maulana Tauqeer on Tuesday had strongly condemned the UP government on the killing of Atiq and Ashraf and demanded resignation of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for giving a statement `mitti mein mila dunga’.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Raj Kumar from Prayagraj demanded India’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna for Atiq Ahmad. Kumar, who was to contest the municipal election on Congress ticket, called the gangster-turned-politician a “martyr” and said his body should be wrapped in tricolour.
After his remarks went viral on social media, the police apprehended Raj Kumar and Congress expelled him from the party.
