Interestingly, the Bahraich Police had initially claimed it to be `dynamite’. As per reports, a team of ATS rushed to Rupaidiha (Bahraich) near Indo-Nepal border after reports that occupants of a car had dropped the ‘bomb’ near a local BJP leader’s house on Thursday night.
Panic gripped the area after the local police claimed to have found six sticks on which the word ‘dynamite’ was scribbled. A case was registered in the matter and top officers were apprised after which a Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was sent. “An ATS team led by Additional SP, Dinesh Yadav reached the spot and after examination by the BDDS team, the sticks were found to be wax candles,” IG, ATS, Asim Arun revealed in lucknow on Friday. “It was found that such candles were available online. The police were now trying to find out whether it was a mischief and who was behind it. While three of the candles were destroyed, the rest were sealed and handed over to local police for further investigations,” said the IG.
