Directing to ensure Holi celebrations as per old traditions, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked officials that peace be ensured by them by taking necessary preventive steps. The officials were directed to strengthen police patrolling and adequate deployment so that communal harmony was maintained and no incidents of violence were reported anywhere.

Interacting with senior officers like Divisional Commissioners, Zonal ADGs, Range IGs, SSP/SPs and DMs through video conferencing on Sunday night, Yogi said that High Court orders regarding playing of loud-speakers be strictly complied with and local officers should ensure that no new tradition was started anywhere which could disturb communal harmony.

The CM also directed district police chiefs to deploy enough force on all sensitive places from where Holi proceesions were to pass to celebrate the occasion.

Yogi asked officials to ensure better coordination between different communities, so that questions were not raised on the intentions of the government.

``Officials should talk with different communities to ensure that the festival is celebrated in peace and harmony and they must work in a manner so that no questions are raised on the intentions of the government and work culture of the administration,” the CM told the officials.

Yogi further stressed that since Holi this year is on a Friday when Muslims offer prayers at mosques, all preparations be made in advance. He also directed officials to ensure that meetings of peace committees upto thana and tehsil-level, were held ahead of the festival.

The CM told officials to provide all necessary security to traditional functions but not permit any new function in their respective jurisdiction.

Earlier on Sunday, DGP OP Singh had asked SSP/SPs to personally monitor deployment of force and keep a tab on social media to check rumours. He also cancelled all leaves of police personnel and said that necessary steps be taken so that no law and order problem was reported.
