Even when the Transport Department of the State government is making tall claims of checking misuse of `red and blue beacon lights’ and not even sparing leaders and government officials, a Dog was having his day with a VVIP ride on an Ambassdor fitted with red beacon light over it’s roof top.
The above claims has been made by noted social and Right to Information (RTI) activist Nutan Thakur who said that throwing open challenge to the Transport Department much publicised drive against the misuse of red and blue beacons, pet of an senior government officer of the State was seen using official ambassador fitted with red-beacon light. The pet comes for a evening stroll and that too in Samajwadi Party’s dream project `lohia Park’ in posh Gomati Nagar locality of the city. In a letter sent to Principal Secretary of the Transport Departmemt on Monday, Nutan Thakur claimed that a huge dog comes every day at Gate No 1 of Ram Manohar
lohia park, lucknow in a red beacon white official ambassador No UP 32BG 3475. The dog sits in the back seat assigned for the master of the vehicle whom the servants help in walking in the Park.
The RTI and social activist claimed this to be a complete violation of the Government Order No 1772/30-4-2007- 25P/77 dated 23 August 2007 mentioning the rules which are to be followed for using red or blue beacon lights and the officials entitled for it. Nutan Thakur said that such practices are highly objectionable and demanded action against the concerned officer. She has also demanded issuing instructions for stopping similar misuse of red and blue beacons particularly by kin and relatives of the VVIPs and now even by their pets.
Meanwhile High Court also seeks reply on Media interaction proposal for Government servants. The lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has directed State Counsel to seek instructions from the Ministry of
Personnel and Public Grievances, Government of India within 10 days regarding the two representations sent by Amitabh Thakur, an IPS officer of UP cadre who is also a RTI Activist.
The Bench of Justice Uma Nath Singh and Justice Mahendra Dayal thus sought the official response as regards the suggestions made by Thakur for amendment in Conduct rules and the Performance Appraisal presently
applicable to the government servants. In the Petition, Thakur has prayed that the Conduct Rules shall be amended to allow the government servants to state through the Media cases related with inside corruption,
misuse of official position etc unlike the complete ban that presently applies. Similarly, he has also prayed for changing the present system of Performance Appraisal of only the seniors writing the ACRs of their juniors to 360 degree feedback system where an employee is evaluated
not only by the seniors but also by his peers, subordinates etc.
