Sleuths of the Special Task Force (STF) claimed to have arrested a hardened criminal in Kanpur on Tuesday afternoon. The held criminal was wanted in connection with bank robbery and is carrying a cash reward of Rs 50,000. A case has been registered in this regard and the accused was sent to jail.
According to IG (law and order) RK Vishwakarma, the sleuths of the STF led by Additional SP, Saheb Rasheed Khan were trailing behind hardened criminal Vipin Dixit aka Ajay Hakkal, a native of Gangaghat in Unnao. Hakkal was wanted in connection with bank dacoity at Collecterganj in Kanpur committed last year. While two of his gang members, Samar Bhadhur aka Chachuwa and little Chandel were already gunned down during encounter with the police, Hakkal managed to dodge the police. later police directorate announced a cash reward on his arrest.
Vishwakarma said that the police team is getting movement in Hakkal in Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Banda, Unnao and Hamirpur districts. However, through electronic surveillance the STF team closed on him and finally get a breakthrough when they traced his presence in Ghatampur locality of Kanpur. A team immediately rushed to Kanpur and managed to lay a trap on the accused even when he also opened fire at police party to manage a safe escape.
