Upset with regular sexual harassment, four sisters lynched the accused with the help of their cousin in Firozabad late Monday night.
In a state of shock, neighbours did not inform police and the body kept lying on the road till Tuesday morning. On being informed later, the police reached the spot and sent the body for autopsy. They also arrested the four sisters who confessed to their crime and said they could not tolerate the sexual harassment any longer.
The family claimed to have informed the police earlier but no help came their way and the girls finally decided to eliminate the accused.
The incident took place in Kheda locality of Shikohabad in Firozabad. Reports said that the family of Ram Bharose Lodhi, who died two years ago, lives in Kheda locality. The family consists of Lodhi’s wife and daughters.
Their neighbour Ram Gopal Lodhi (40), who was unmarried, lived with his widowed sister-in-law and her children. Ram Gopal had been allegedly molesting one of the girls for the last few years. Few years back, Ram Gopal molested her sister too and on being confronted, he attacked her with an axe.
The accused threatened the family with dire consequences if they informed police. The family informed the police but no action was taken.
On Monday evening, Ram Gopal molested the girl again and later escaped. The girl narrated her ordeal to her sisters. Finally, all the four, along with their cousin, waited for Ram Gopal and as they saw him coming back and attacked him with sticks and rods, leaving him dead. SP (Rural) Dr Akhilesh Narayan Singh said the four sisters had been taken into custody.
Meanwhile, in the Kithore area of Meerut, a youth killed his uncle and later surrendered before police. The cops arrested the accused and sent the body for autopsy. They also registered a case on the complaint of the son-in-law of the deceased, who was a retired police officer.
Reports said that Sheoraj (70), was a resident of Hasanpur Kalan village in Kithore. Sheoraj had some money-related dispute with his nephew Pradeep. Sheoraj had borrowed some money from Pradeep and was not returning it. Late on Monday night, Pradeep hacked his uncle to death and later walked down to the nearest police station to surrender.
