Reiterating that the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh was working for the welfare of each section of society, Governor Ram Naik said that the government’s priority included uplift of village, poor, farmers, youths, women as well as the deprived and disadvantaged sections of society.

Naik also asked political parties and voters to actively participate in the election and ensure its peaceful and smooth conduct.

“The present state government is ensuring the benefit of all its schemes to the people of the state without any discrimination in accordance with the spirit of the Constitution. The present government has created such an environment in the state with its pragmatic and well thought policies in the field of public welfare that it has paved paths for development and prosperity,” the Governor said in the joint address to the state legislature on the opening day of the Budget Session on Tuesday.

However, the address was marred by ruckus created by the opposition, who raised anti-government slogans and even threw paper balls at the Governor, two of which actually hit him despite effort of the watch and ward staff and marshals of the Assembly to protect him.

Announcing the priorities of the Yogi government, Naik said that the government’s priority included uplift of village, poor, farmers, youths and women as well as the deprived and disadvantaged sections of society.

“Effective steps, which have been undertaken by the state government for the development of its people, would continue in future too in order to fulfil the resolve of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” the Governor said.

In his 30-page address, Naik made special mention of the law and order situation in the state and patted the Yogi government’s back for the improvement.

“The law and order situation has considerably improved in the state. Now the common man is free of fear. Women are not afraid of going out of their houses even during nights,” Naik said, adding that following the drive launched against criminals, a substantial decline had been noticed in serious crimes as compared to last year.

During his speech, the Governor also spoke in detail about Prayagraj Kumbh, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, One District One Product (ODOP), farmers’ welfare, swachhata, industrial development, health, education, skill development, pension, scholarships, power, transport, Metro, civil aviation and tourism.

Naik ended his speech by delving on Lok Sabha elections which are around the corner and exhorted everyone to take part in this festival of democracy.

“The number of voters in UP has touched the 14.40 crore-mark and the state occupies a key place in the country’s politics. I would like to urge all voters to use their right to vote as provided by the Constitution and go for maximum voting,” the Governor said.

Naik signed off by urging political parties, officers and employees related to election process, officers of police entrusted with maintaining law and order and soldiers, to ensure peaceful election by discharging their duties sincerely.
