In a concerted effort to protect schoolchildren from mosquito-borne diseases like dengue and malaria, the Yogi government has rolled out comprehensive guidelines which is aimed at encouraging students of council schools to wear full pants and shirt.
The directives also entail measures to prevent water-logging within school premises and advocate for mosquito control through fogging. Furthermore, students will be educated on disease prevention methods related to dengue, malaria, and chikungunya, facilitated by nodal teachers.
Director of Basic Education, Mahendra Dev, issued a letter to all district basic education officers.
As per the instructions, students attending council schools will be encouraged to wear full pants and shirts as a preventive measure against mosquito-borne diseases. The letter also underscores the importance of schools promptly notifying the Primary Health Center (PHC) if a significant number of students exhibit fever symptoms. This proactive approach will enable timely medical examinations and appropriate treatment by qualified medical professionals.
To effectively control and prevent communicable diseases like malaria and dengue, comprehensive cleanliness arrangements within the premises of council schools and their surroundings are deemed necessary.
Collaboration with local authorities to conduct fogging operations will also be essential in combating mosquito-related issues.
Each school is expected to designate a health nodal teacher responsible for educating students on the prevention of diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. These nodal teachers will maintain regular coordination with the local health department and disseminate disease prevention measures. Furthermore, teachers in various classes are encouraged to establish WhatsApp groups to connect with parents, periodically share informative videos, and facilitate online meetings to keep them informed and engaged in the disease prevention efforts.
The Uttar Pradesh government's proactive measures reflect its commitment to ensuring the health and well-being of schoolchildren and the broader community by minimising the risks associated with communicable diseases.
