“We have started ‘GRP Citizen Eye’ service in which people can sent audios, videos and pictures of extortion by policemen wearing uniform,
illegal vendors, problems related to irregularities in plying autos and tempos from stations through WhatsApp. The service will be available on mobile number 9454458064,” IG of GRP Asheesh Gupta said. Briefing the media persons here on Thursday evening, he said that strict action would be taken on genuine complaints.

Gupta said that an appeal has also been issued to people not to send their complaints related to crime on the ‘Citizen Eye’ number as for them control room numbers were already in place. He also clarified and appealed that any incident of police excesses occurred only within Uttar Pradesh, should be reported on the above Citizen Eye so that they could take cognizance of the matter. He claimed that this would not just make more discipline in the force but would also help them in regaining confidence of the public in them. He said that for safety of the complainant who hope of any kind of negative reaction to their complaint, they also made it clear that the sender could hide their identity and they would take cognizance just on basis of evidence sent by them.
