Uttar Pradesh government is yet to react to Central  government's move to set up a bench of the Allahabad  High Court in western UP.

''The Centre has sought a report from UP Chief Minister  Akhilesh Yadav and Chief Justice of the Allahabad High  Court over setting up a bench of the High Court in west  UP,'' said Rashtriya lok Dal (RlD) general secretary and  MP from Mathura Jayant Choudhury on Friday in a  statement. Chaudhury had wrote to Union law Minister Kapil Sibal to  fulfill the aspiration of the people of western UP by setting  up a bench there on April 9 last. In response the Centre had  sent a letter to the UP CM and CJI of Allahabad High

Court seeking their report on the issue, he said.  ''But there was no response from the UP government yet,''  the RlD leader said. While the lawyers of Allahabad High Court were opposing  the bench, the advocates of the west UP districts are on  striking demanding the bench till August 20. RlD is demanding setting up of the bench of the Allahabad  High Court in western UP for the past several years.
