The Akhilesh Yadav Government might act tough against a few serving officers who have picked up the cudgel to expose “wrong doings” in government hinting that these officers have crossed the laxman rekha.
Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan said that anti-Government statements of some officers have come to our knowledge. They are using social site to criticise Chief Minister. They would be asked to explain their position soon, he said. Two serving officers Surya Pratap Singh, who is working as Principal Secretary in Bureau of Public Enterprise and an IPS officer Amitabh Thakur who is posted as Inspector General, Civil Defence are time and again questioning Government’s working style and have issued statements against the Government.
Singh joined students in Allahabad protesting against PCS paper leak demanding removal of State Public Service Commission Chairman Anil Yadav. He even gave statement questioning Government’s inaction to stop cheating in on-going Secondary Board Examination. His statements are harsh and at times tone seems to be anti-government. He talks about farmers’ plight post-unseasonal rains. He talks about rampant cheating in state-run schools as how cheating mafia are calling the shots in examination. He has even started a website www. nakalrokoabhiyan.org to involve people in this campaign
On other hand Thakur raised question as why police acts swift to trace buffaloes of a senior minister while common man’s complaints are ignored. Ranjan said that con conduct of some officers is against the Service Conduct Rules. “Their statements are clear violation of these rules and they will have to give explanation,” he said.
When contacted Surya Pratap Singh said that he has not received charge sheet so far. “I have not committed any crime and had never given statement against government. As a public servant I have spoken about welfare of people,” he told The Pioneer. “I will cross the bridge when I reach there,” he said.
