The Uttar Pradesh government will release 1,577 prisoners from jails on the occasion of Republic Day.
According to Principal Secretary (Home) Arvind Kumar, as per the policy of the government to release sick and old prisoners every year on Republic Day and Independence Day, this year on the occasion of Republic Day, 1,577 convicted criminals lodged in different jails would be released.
He said the release order of 245 prisoners from Central Jail in Bareilly had been issued and other necessary orders were being issued so that they all could be released on Saturday.
