Railway Minister Piyush Goel said that the Union government was dedicated to strengthen the railway infrastructure and provide world-class services and amenities to passengers. He was speaking during the inspection of Gomti Nagar railway station on Tuesday afternoon. He said the Indian Railway was working constantly to address issues like speed of trains, safety, security, cleanliness and passenger amenities at different railway stations.
Goel inspected the upkeep and availability of passenger amenities at the railway station and said the Union government had invested huge funds in several projects to improve passenger amenities and the rail infrastructure in the time to come. “In fact, we had invested more than five times than the previous Union government. A major change in the track section is being carried out in different parts of UP. We hope that delayed running of trains will be a thing of past in future,” he said.
The minister said the Gomti Nagar railway station was of special importance and its development would ease the train traffic load on Charbagh and lucknow junction. “The Union government had invested adequate funds for the development of the Gomti Nagar railway station. The work is being done in a phased way and will be completed in a stipulated time period,” he stressed.
Goel said the railway officials had been asked to ensure all facilities available at railway stations during the Kumbh Mela. “Devotees from different parts of the country visit Kumbh and so the railway has started its preparations keeping in mind the large number of passengers,” he said.
The minister also had a meeting with railway officials on the occasion. He wished to know from general manager, North Eastern Railway, Rajeev Agrawal and other senior railway officials about the current status of ongoing works of different projects at the Gomti Nagar railway station. Earlier, the Railway Minister, along with UP Cabinet ministers Suresh Khanna and Ashutosh Tandon, reached the railway station where senior railway officials welcomed him. General Manager, Northern Railway, Vishwesh Chaube, Director General, RDSO, Margoob Hussain, General Manager, Modern Coach Factory, Rae Bareli, Rajesh Agrawal and other senior officials were present on this occasion. The visit of the minister at the Gomti Nagar railway station put the railway officials on their toes. Their anxious moments ended after the minister, along with UP Cabinet ministers, left the venue to attend other programmes.
