To give a fillip to its prospects in the 2019 lok Sabha poll, the BJP government in the state was contemplating waiver of toll tax for private vehicles on state-owned highways.
During an informal shat with media persons, PWD minister Keshav Prasad Maurya hinted on Monday that the government was considering proposal to waive toll tax on private vehicles on these state highways.
“There is a demand for waiver of toll on private vehicles and hence the government was considering it,” he said.
However, commuters would not be able to benefit by travelling on lucknow-Agra Expressway, as the government has not decided the same for expressways.
Maurya also said that the state government after waiving toll tax on state highways would recommend the same to the Centre for the NHAI highways in the country.
