To forward police services to the members of fairer sex right at their door-step or to give women immediate relief on any ones report, state government started on-line registration of complaints, on Friday. Government claimed it be another big move after success of ‘’1090 women power line”. The project is brain child of IG (Technical services), Sandeep Salunke and government appreciated his efforts for extending commendable contribution in developing the site.

Principal Secretary (Home), AK Gupta said that on directions of chief minister Akhikesh Yadav, UP police had started on-line enrolment of complaints regarding crimes against women across the state. He claimed that such on line facility has been provided first time in UP in order to make police force more sensitive and responsible regarding complaints of atrocities against women. Following beginning of this facility, women have not been required to move to the police stations for registering their complaints. Now, any woman herself or any person on her behalf may lodge complaint of atrocities on line.

Giving above details here on Fridaye evening, Gupta claimed that so far, 85 complaints have been lodged in this connection. This facility has been provided through citizen services linked to Report Crime Against Women on ``http://uppolice.gov.in’’.

Gupta said that after registering on-line complaint on the above site, the applicant has to receive a pass word on his mobile number, through which the complainant may see the progress of action taken regarding her complaint by log in the password from time to time. The complainant has been allowed to keep her name and address secret, if she wanted. Facility has also been provided to upload photographs and video regarding atrocities as an evidence.

He claimed that the police officers have been directed to investigate all online complaints and on being found correct, legal action should be taken by lodging case against guilty person. He said that directives have been issued for collecting uploaded complaints received on police website by a gazetted officer in every district, priority would be given for posting of any women police gazetted officer for the purpose as far as possible. He said that directives have also been given that before uploading action taking report, any information regarding complainant or accused should not be displayed on website, the district level police superintendents have been asked to review its progress every week, while range DIGs and zonal IGs would review monthly/fortnightly progress of action taken on such complaints, so that a terror free atmosphere could be provided to the women.

Besides secret details regarding name and address of the complainant on website, all other information has been provided on-line and any information can be had by any person regarding progress of action taken in this connection and make comment of like or unlike. This is first time when a complainant may mention his like or unlike comment regarding police working.
