Questioning state government’s decision to suspend a trainee IAS officer who had taken up cudgel against sand mafia, the UP unit of Bharatiya Janata party said that there was a paradigm shift in government working as it was protecting corrupt bureaucrats but was taking action against honest officials.
"It is a strange paradox. The State government is feeling shy to take action against those officials who are found guilty in implementation of national projects like MNREGA. Union Minister Jairam Ramesh himself has said that Chief Minister was giving patronage to these
corrupt officials and here Government has penalized a sincere officer because she took action against sand mafia," BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said in a statement issued here on Monday.
He said that officiating Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan has admitted that action taken against SDM Sadar Gautambudh Nagar Durga Shakti Nagpal was harsh. "Who is responsible for that action," he asked. Pathak said that Chief Minister had time and again blamed the bureaucracy for the prevailing ills in the society. When some of the officials are trying to improve the situation this Chief Minister does not give them protection instead takes action against them, he said.
"The political parties likes BSP, SP and Congress are hand in glove in protecting corrupt. The SP and BSP, whom Congress leaders call corrupt, are the main support of the UPA. It is strange why Centre is silent on the persecution of this trainee IAS officer," he said.
