Govt orders DNA test of bodies recovered from UP rivers

The Uttar Pradesh government has directed the officials of those districts situated on banks of rivers Ganga and Yamuna to go for the DNA test of the bodies recovered from the rivers as they could be that of  the pilgrims who died in flash floods of Uttarakhand.

"A communication has been sent to the officials of these districts to photograph the bodies and even preserve the DNA sample so that they could be identified in nearfuture," a government official said here on Sunday. The Uttar Pradesh Government took this decision after 48 bodies were recovered from the river Ganga a few days back in Haridwar. All these bodied were believed to be that of pilgrims and had washed away with water from higher
riches. The Uttarakhand Government too had ordered proper documentation including collection of DNA of these bodies for future reference.

Meanwhile on the instruction of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, UP government has set up relief camps in Rishkesh and Haridwar along with at Jolly Grant hospital.  '' In these camps medicines are given free. Doctors from lucknow are manning these camps. Even the pilgrims of Uttarakhand could use telephone to call their relatives free of cost besides they would be provided snacks, food packets and medicines,'' sources said.
