|The Rashtriya Lok Dal flayed the Uttar Pradesh government, alleging that it was not serious towards the state of flood and plight of those trapped in villages due to it.
In a statement issued on Saturday, RLD national secretary Anil Dubey said that the condition of floods was alarming but the state government was not serious about the sufferings of the affected people in Uttar Pradesh.
Dubey said that over a dozen rivers were flowing above the danger marks and people trapped in the villages were crying for help to save themselves and their livestock.
“The people are also not getting essentials like milk for their children and medicines for the ailing kids, adults and elderly people. In Gorakhpur and Basti, the flood is in a fierce form and hundreds of people are trapped in the flooded regions. The state government has not even made arrangements to rescue them from the difficult situation,” he said.
Dubey said that floods had brought road traffic to a standstill on stretches between Gorakhpur and Varanasi, Sonauli and Gorakhpur and stretches linking Lucknow from these points.
“People are fleeing in Gonda, Balrampur, Barabanki, Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Siddharth Nagar, Rae Bareli, Ayodhya, Farrukhabad and Kushinagar. In Gonda, over two dozen villages are submerged in flood water due to rise in water level of Teri in the past few days. Several hundred acres of standing crops have been destroyed in the floods,” he pointed out.
