Ridiculing Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for his statement that the government was committed to check illegal mining, the state unit of Bharatiya Janata party said that the Government cannot check illegal mining because it does not have the political will to do so.
Addressing reporters here on Monday party’s spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that CM minister and his ministers’ statements about no illegal mining in UP have proved hollow time and again because media had highlighted how this illegal trade takes place at the cover of the night. Chief Minister has said in a function that his government was committed to control this menace and would take strict action against the people involved in this trade.
"Recently dumpers and JCB machines were seized in Noida, Greater Noida and Jalaun areas. If there is a total cap on illegal mining how these machines are in operation," Pathak asked. The Pioneer on last Friday had highlighted how the illegal trade of mining in Noida picks up in the night. The report explains how dumpers and JCBs work the whole night and with the break of dawn these machines just disappear.
BJP spokesman said with the suspension of trainee IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal the focus is back on illegal mining. People are now aware about the mining and they are informing officials about these. "Unfortunately, officials fail to act because of lack of political support," he said. Pathak said that this menace would not end until Chief Minister shows the political will to curb this menace. Words won’t help. The Chief Minister will now have to show the people that he means business, he said.
