Aiming to strengthen Covid control management and connect youths with employment, as many as 372 trainees of government ITIs will be engaged in operation of oxygen plants in Uttar Pradesh.
With 11 new oxygen producing plants becoming functional in the last two days, the UP government is working on a mission mode to equip the state with the presence of all medical resources and skilled technicians amid apprehensions of a third wave of COVID-19. Making rapid strides towards becoming self-reliant in oxygen generation, close to 370 oxygen producing plants are now functional in Uttar Pradesh.
Ensuring adequate availability of medical oxygen, the UP government on Thursday announced that as many as 368 oxygen plants have already been set up in the state while work to get the other plants functional is going on a war-footing.
While reviewing the COVID-19 situation at a high-level meeting with senior officials, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “The process of establishing the remaining under-construction plants should be completed expeditiously. Two technical experts must be present at each oxygen plant.”
Oxygen plants are mandatory in hospitals with more than 50-bed capacity. The chief minister also directed officials to assess the updated situation in this regard and take necessary action. He also instructed that two technicians be deployed at every oxygen plant.
Real time monitoring of the installation work has been planned, with the district administrations being asked to continuously monitor the progress of installation work of these plants and ensure availability of raw material so that it can be completed on time.
The state government will also conduct special training sessions for paramedical staff and pharmacists to prepare them to fight the pandemic’s possible third wave. With this initiative, the government will not only provide skill training to the local youths but will also provide employment opportunities.
