With the announcement of resumption of domestic flights from May 25, the state government has decided that travellers from the state will have to go for a week’s home quarantine while outsiders visiting the state will have to show their return ticket, or they too will be quarantined for a week.
Principal Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said that the state government had framed new guidelines to ensure that people travelling by air do not spread the disease.
“An advisory has been issued for strict home quarantine for natives of the state,” he said.
Prasad said that a monitoring committee would ensure that people abide by guidelines and if there is any discrepancy, they would inform the authorities and stern action would be taken against the errants.
“In case people are not from UP, they need to show details of their return journey like tickets. Otherwise, they too will be asked to go for quarantine for a week,” he said.
Prasad said that as per the chief minister’s directions, the state was going ahead in meeting the target of 10,000 tests a day.
“On Friday, 8,112 samples were tested in the state. Besides, there were 836 pool tests in which 177 were of 10-sample pool and the rest of 5-sample pool. Of the total pools, 143 were positive,” he said.
The principal secretary said that influx of migrants had spiked the coronavirus positive cases in the state and during a house-to-house survey by ASHA workers, 7.44 lakh migrants workers in home quarantine were screened, and of them 844 were found with COVID-19 symptoms.
Prasad said that 2,500 private hospitals were working with full strength across the state and providing emergency services. He also said that vaccination of children was also being done at government and other hospitals.
