Govt building strong society in UP: CM

Asserting that the government’s sensitivity is building a strong society in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said initiatives like ‘Mukhyamantri Bal Sewa Yojana’ and ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ bear testimony to this.

During his visit to Gorakhpur on Monday, the chief minister gave laptops to 82 beneficiaries of ‘Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana’, prize money to meritorious girl students, and sports kits to 20 ‘Mahila Mangal Dals’ under ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao Yojana’.

Addressing a gathering on the occasion, Yogi said the state government started the ‘Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana’, taking inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for all those children who had lost either one or both their parents during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Under the scheme, a sum of Rs 4,000 per month is being given as scholarship to children whose parents died due to the pandemic while Rs 2,500 per month to those in the general category who lost their parents due to other reasons during the pandemic. The process of giving laptops to children studying in class IX or above has been started.

“Covid-19 caused great devastation all over the world. There is no country where a large number of deaths have not taken place. However, India, the world’s largest democracy, presented the best model of Covid-19 management under the leadership of PM Modi. Arrangements were made for free tests, treatment, vaccines and ration. Even today, 80 crore people in the country are getting the benefit of free ration. More than 200 crore vaccine doses have been administered free of cost,” Yogi said.

The chief minister said that in Gorakhpur, 603 children are getting the benefit of Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana and 218 under Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana (General). A total of 115 children were given laptops in 2021-22 while 82 got it on Monday.

CM Yogi said there was a need to put the calamity of Covid-19 behind and move forward. “After completing the age of 18 years, you will also get an amount from ‘PM Cares Fund’ till the age of 23 years. Although no one can fill the void in your lives created by the loss of parents, the amount given by the government will be your strength. This reveals the sensitivity of the government towards you,” the CM told the children.

Yogi said that ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ is the mantra of PM Modi. Under this, daughters, institutions and ‘Mahila Mangal Dals’ who are performing excellently are being encouraged today.

“Playgrounds are being made in every village so that daughters also become physically and mentally healthy. The government is trying to provide sports kits in every gram panchayat. The double-engine government is providing free education to girls. Along with this, a package of Rs 15,000 has been made under the ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana’ from the birth of the girl child till her graduation. Rs 51,000 are given under the ‘Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana’ when the girl is eligible for marriage,” he pointed out.

Yogi said the schools of Uttar Pradesh have become visible as arrangements have been made for smart classes, good flooring, toilets, and pure drinking water through Operation Kayakalp.

Congratulating everyone on Holi, Yogi said the festival inspires people to forget enmity and move forward with enthusiasm. All the children present at the event got special gifts from the chief minister.

Yogi also visited the stalls of the Basic Education department, Child Development project, etc in the outer premises of the venue.
