The UP Congress criticised the Yogi Adityanath government for failing to provide irrigation facilities to farmers which could adversely affect the Kharif crop in the state.
“While BJP government is celebrating its 100 days in office, farmers are reeling under acute water crisis due to government apathy,” charged Congress spokesperson Sanjay Bajpai. He said that every year, all canals were cleaned before June 15 but this year the government has failed to do so which would badly affect the Kharif crop.
“Besides, power crisis in the state has created problems for farmers as they could not run their tubewells for irrigation. The government has also failed to provide farmloan waiver to farmers even after 100 days in office. Facing a plethora of problems in farming and lack of funds, nuemorus farmers were committing suicide but the Yogi government has preferred to ignore the `truth’ and was busy in celebrations,” alleged Bajpai.
